Habasit and Rossi Motoriduttori together under the sign of innovation

imgModena, 20th July 2007 – Habasit, the Swiss world leader in belt and conveyor manufacturing and Rossi Motoriduttori from Modena, one of Europe’s biggest manufacturers of gearboxes, gearmotors, normal and self-braking electric motors and electronic speed variators signed a partnership agreement at the end of 2004 with a view to resource sharing and international growth.

Since then Basel based Habasit has also acquired a minority shareholding in the Rossi Motoriduttori Group, providing Rossi with the support they needed to accelerate their process of internationalisation. As Vero Greco, Rossi Motoriduttori’s Managing Director explains, “Rossi Motoriduttori is a private, family owned firm that has always dedicated maximum attention to quality and innovation. Our group’s success has always been based on innovation, and on our ability to drive innovation and develop new products.”

What Habasit found most attractive about Rossi Motoriduttori was the company’s ability to identify original applications and outlets in the many civil and industrial fields in which gearboxes and gearmotors are used. Rossi Motoriduttori was the first to develop a large number of solutions, including universal mountings and component modularity, that have gone on to become industrial standards and are viewed as fundamental aspects of power transmission technology.

The Rossi Motoriduttori Group has 4 factories in Italy, three in the province of Modena and one in Lecce, covering a total area of 100,000 square metres. The group has its headquarters in Via Emilia Ovest in Modena. Rossi Motoriduttori is the second largest Italian manufacturer of gearboxes and gearmotors in terms of turnover, and boasts a market share of 11%, much of which comes from the building and ceramics industries. Over recent years consolidated turnover has grown dramatically, from 77.5 million Euros in 2000 to 131 million Euros in 2006, when Rossi Motoriduttori produced 350,000 gearmotors, gearboxes, electronic speed variators and normal and self-braking electric motors for installation all over the world and on all types of machine.
