New call to attract innovative investments in Emilia-Romagna

16/06/2021 - “ATTRACTION OF INVESTMENTS IN EMILIA-ROMAGNA”, the fifth call to enter into Agreements for the Settlement and Development of Enterprises (Agreement) has been published after the approval the 14th of June 2021 (Resolution 2021/863). Applications can be submitted from the 15th of July 2021 to the 15th of October 2021 (12am).

20 million euros of resources are available for the present call (5 in 2022, 15 in 2023), with the objective to support investments of regional interest that increase the competitiveness and innovative capacity of the regional value chains, with a focus on high technology and employment impact.

The Agreement is open to:

  • foreign/national companies not already settled in the region that intend to invest in Emilia-Romagna (with at least one local unit to be settled before the signing of the Agreement)
  • regional companies already settled in Emilia-Romagna

TYPEs of INTERVENTION provided by the call are the following:

  • R&D - Research and development – this type of intervention is mandatory to be eligible for the call
  • Research facilities,
  • Environmental protection: energy efficiency, co-generation in energy production, energy from renewable sources, recycling and reuse of waste,
  • Training projects,
  • Hiring of disadvantaged workers and disabled workers

Only for companies
 not already settled in the region before 14th of June 2021 (data of publication of the call):  

  • Productive investments and advisory services for SMEs;
  • Productive investments for large companies, only in assisted areas.

The four previous calls for proposals of the Regional Law for the Promotion of Investments (2016, 2017, 2019, 2020) are having a strong impact on the socio-economic system.  The total amount of the financed investments is 263 million €, integrated in industrial plans that have attracted hundreds million euros of investments in Emilia-Romagna.  The Region has provided about 90 million euros of public grants since 2017, supporting the creation of 2,222 new jobs.

Several financed companies are owned by foreign investors, such as: AVL, Teko Telecom (JMA Wireless), IBM, B.Braun, Lamborghini e Ducati (part of Volkswagen/Audi group), Qura, FEV Italia, Bellco, Borgwarner Systems Lugo, Intersurgical.
