Toyota is expanding its presence in Emilia-Romagna with what Leonardo Salcerini, the CEO of Toyota Material Handling Italy, described as "the biggest infrastructure investment the company has made in Italy", emphasizing how much the Japanese parent company believes in the region. The investment primarily concerns the forklift sector (components and equipment for material handling). The companies involved are LTE Lift Truck Equipment, located in Ostellato (province of Ferrara), and Toyota Material Handling, which has several locations in Bologna. The expansion also includes a new multifunctional hub in Valsamoggia, featuring a state-of-the-art logistics center. This new facility will be built near other significant foreign investments in the area, such as the Philip Morris and Ducati plants.

The total investment from Toyota Industries Corporation amounts to €94 million and will create 307 new jobs. The Development Agreement, approved by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, will provide €6,963,491 in incentives for the research and development projects.

In detail, the production investment projects involve building new industrial warehouses and introducing new machinery to improve and enhance production at the LTE facility in Ostellato. It also includes the construction of the new logistics center in Valsamoggia, along with new equipment and handling systems to transport raw materials from storage warehouses to the production line in Bologna.

The research and development projects focus on designing a new range of masts with superior performance in both functionality and visibility. Additionally, they will develop more advanced, digital, and automated logistics processes with the goal of reducing environmental impact.
