Nikon Slm Solutions has chosen its new Italian location in Reggio Emilia, inside the Reggiane Innovation Park. The Japanese company is a leader in additive manufacturing, with the production of industrial metal 3D printing machines, suitable for use in industrial processes for various sectors, including automotive. The Nikon Group recently acquired SLM Solutions, headquartered in Germany, thus creating new synergies. The Reggio Emilia engineering center of Nikon SLM will deal with the design of the machines, the development of new products and innovative design methodologies and processes. In the center there will be mechanical, process and industrialization designers, electrical and electronic designers and software developers. 30 new highly qualified jobs will be created by 2024.
The importance of the regional ecosystem in the choice of the location is highlighted by Alessandro Polacco, Engineering Director of SLM Solutions Italia, who stated: "Our entry into the Reggiane Parco Innovazione represents an important step in our commitment to develop innovative and efficient solutions within the additive manufacturing sector. We look forward to collaborating with the university and research centres in the Park and contributing significantly to the growth of Emilia-Romagna's technological ecosystem."
The settlement is the result of teamwork that has highlighted the ability of the regional system to enhance the quality of the localization offer, the innovative ecosystem and the industrial context of excellence.
