The German company Sew-Eurodrive, chooses Borgo Panigale, in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, as the location of the new Drive Technology Center, to be completed by 2026. The amount of the investment is of over 30 million euros, with the creation of 80 new jobs as initial forecast. The technology center will provide services for different production sectors, from food to tobacco and from logistics to automotive, with a green approach and digital solutions. The company operates in the field of automation and mechanical engineering (from gearmotors to inverters and controls). The plant, located in an area of about 14 thousand square meters, will host a Drive Academy, research and development, assembly and service activities, technical commercial offices and coworking areas to contribute to technological and cultural exchanges.

Hans Krattenmacher - Managing Director Corporate Innovation Mechatronics Sew-Eurodrive Italia, commented on the choice of the investment: "Emilia-Romagna offers a context of both technological and cultural excellence. The region, in addition to having an extremely vibrant industrial context, boasts a humanistic culture that is ideal to build a sustainable future. This is why Sew chose this location to create a triangle of technological exchange made up of the ecosystems of Bologna, Karlsruhe and Leuven. (...) The Drive Technology Center in Bologna wants to contribute to the evolution of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the area (...)."

Sew-Eurodrive's investment in Emilia-Romagna strengthens and confirms the link between the regional and German economies, and joins the many companies of excellence in the area such as Siemens, Volkswagen, B. Braun, FEV, Manz.
